Career guidance seminar in Tororo Girls School-Afchix Uganda

On 15th June, a team of four members of Afchix Uganda went to Tororo Girls School to carry out career guidance to the form 2 and 3 students of the school. Among this team were: Lisa Katusiime, Liz Mirembe, Lillian Achom and Nodumo Dhilamin.

The objective of the seminar was the encourage 14-16 year old girls to take up IT/Computer Science programs as career and to carry out research about the level of literacy of computer use among the girls.


 Five hundred and eighty three (583) students attended the three hour session.
We received and answered to over 25 IT/Computer Science related questions from the girls and got amazing feedback both written and on video clips.

Waschana Foundation

On 3rd June, a team from the Higher Institute of Learning, Dubai and a representative from CISCO academy launched WASCHANA FOUNDATION, a knowledge center in Tororo district in East of Uganda.

Lillian Achom wore two hats:-represented Afchix Uganda and as staff of Waschana Foundation.

The ceremony was graced by his Worship the mayor of Tororo.
The Higher Institute of Learning donated 20 laptops to Waschana Foundation and 20 boxes of reams of bond papers were donated to a local school in Tororo.

Waschana Foundation is founded by Dr. Catherine Omaswa. The goal of the center is to teach the girls and boys IT skills in order to better their lives.

The center opened with four pioneer students and the number is growing.
